               As moth to flame, so I to you

          Although I knew such fateful game

     Should best be spurned. Yet my desire

          To near your fire, (for which I burned

               Once first I saw your charming face

          And glowing grace), consumed me more.

     Across those years that have flown by

          Since in my eye your light appeared,

               I’ve strained each nerve to draw more close

                    To warm repose. I’ve tried to serve

               You from the start; but all in vain,

     So felt the pain from your bright heart!.

No love could flare with more concern than mine

As I’m inurned in passion’s fair, hot shrine!.
